Ottawa Valley Grain Products was founded in 1929 by Nat Lindsay, a local farmer in the Ottawa Valley. He began purchasing wheat, oats and barley from Castleford, Goshen and Glascow farmers for resale in Montreal, and also bought soup peas from local farms for export markets—including the West Indies, Norway, Finland, Great Britain, Indonesia and Africa.
After purchasing a small flour mill in Renfrew, Ontario, the company began also specializing in registered seed sales, split pea processing and feed manufacturing. As it continued to grow, Ottawa Valley Grain Products was passed down through the generations. Nat’s two sons—Allan and Earl—ran the company for many years, and expanded to numerous other locations.
Today, Ottawa Valley Grain Products proudly remains a family-owned and operated business in its fourth generation, where we continue to process specialty grain products for local, national and international clients.
